How to Corral (version 1.0, alpha), 2008, game
How to Corral uses the Wii-Flash server to connect a Wii-mote through Bluetooth to my laptop. The game is a metaphor for what people consider normalcy. Inside the corral are words, all synonyms of “wild”. Occassionally the wild words go ballistic and start mooing. Your job is to whip them by maneuvering the CORRAL word over to the misbehaving animals. When you whip them they disappear and rejoin the meandering, but slightly more tame, wild animals.
The game can work in several ways. It can work on and offline, but when online it can pull words from an online thesaurus. The thesaurus I am using is located here. This online thesaurus is super useful as it can output a web address that lists all the words in XML format. I can parse XML easily in Flash, which is what the game is written in (ActionScript 3.0). I have only just started experimenting with Big Huge Thesaurus and I am looking forward to checking it out even more!
